Spout Brew House

If you ever find yourself in Leek, Staffordshire, with a craving for craft brews, good food, and a warm, quirky vibe, Spout Brew House on 70 St Edward St is where you want to be. Tucked inside a cozy building with bags of character, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill café or pub - it’s a refreshing blend of the two, with a heavy splash of personality and passion for what they serve.

Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back brunch, a midday pick-me-up, or just somewhere to sip a Dutch Wheat Beer while people-watching, Spout Brew House has you covered.

Step inside and you’ll immediately feel the charm. Wooden tables, vintage décor, and a slightly bohemian edge create an inviting space that balances comfort and cool effortlessly. The team here isn’t just friendly - they’re enthusiastic about food, drinks, and making sure every guest feels welcome.

Let’s talk about the food. The menu might change up depending on what’s fresh and in season, but standouts are always in rotation. For starters, the Whiskey Cured Salmon and the Bruschetta with Prawns offer a bold, savory kick. For something more comforting and filling, the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich hits the spot, tender and juicy with all the right textures.

Vegetarian? No worries. The Spanakopita and Cauliflower Bites are crowd favorites - fresh, flavorful, and plated beautifully. The Couscous Noodle Salad with Greens is another option that manages to feel both healthy and indulgent at the same time.

And don’t leave without trying the Cake of the Day. You’ll usually find something like an Orange Almond Cake paired with a double shot of Espresso - a duo that’s basically a warm hug for your taste buds.

True to its name, Spout Brew House knows how to serve up a serious beer selection. Expect rotating taps with craft beer like Brewdog IPA No 1 Right and the refreshing smoothness of a Dutch Wheat Beer. They also make a solid Bloody Mary Hell if you're leaning toward a spicy brunch beverage.

Not a beer person? Their hot drinks menu is equally impressive. The Cappuccino and Lemon Drizzle Cake combo is practically ritual here. Or go for a Cortado, especially if you appreciate bold coffee served in European style. Their Hot Chocolate is also worth noting - rich, velvety, and ideal for those grey British afternoons.

Spout Brew House isn’t just about what’s on the plate or in the glass. It’s the kind of place that fits your mood, whatever it might be. Need to catch up with friends? There’s space. Solo lunch with a book or your laptop? Absolutely. Dates, brunches, slow weekends - the atmosphere here adapts without trying too hard.

Accessibility is also thoughtfully considered. Whether you're navigating with a stroller or a wheelchair, the space feels open and welcoming, a big plus for inclusive dining.

What sets Spout apart isn’t just their eclectic menu or curated beer list - it’s the attention to detail. The staff know their stuff, from coffee roasting techniques to food pairings. There’s real effort in how they balance flavors - like pairing beetroot hummus with pita bread for the perfect blend of earthiness and crunch, or offering Eggs Benedict that hits the right hollandaise note without overpowering the plate.

You’ll find Empty Plates All Round is a common sight, which says a lot more than any chalkboard menu or wall quote could.

Nice atmosphere and enjoyed our drinks. However I was disappointed with my food. They display a vegan option for the Shroomentine. This was advertised as hollandaise sauce, mushrooms and poached egg. I thought perfect! It will be a veganised version of that. When it came it had egg and dairy hollondaise sauce on so i had to send it back. My family had to eat without me and then 10-mins later the vegan one came out. But this was just some mushrooms on a bagel, no hollandaise sauce substitution and no scrambled Tofu or add on to replace the egg. I was still charged the same price and felt this was not right. They gave me a £3 cash refund which I still felt wasn't acceptable for a few mushrooms on a bagel. You could get bacon on a brioche bun with fried egg for that price. I was looking forward to my visit but left disappointed and still hungry. However, the atmosphere was nice and I enjoyed the coffee. I just feel the food was overpriced for what I got.

Had a wonderful meal tonight. Food was amazing - steak ramen and beef feather-blade were delicious. Finished with sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse. Everything was spot on including the fat chips . Lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended.

What a delightful visit this was. Stopped by for brunch and was welcomed by the owner, Ruth. Very chatty and friendly. The food was very tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. My cappuccino was lush too. Amazing choice of decor and colour schemes. Very well put together.

A quirky nice place to be. The Starter were delish. We had some things which we missed at the mains, it was no problem to say this as she was glad to have some comments personally which I liked and made a natural flair to the Situation. The orange almond cake as dessert was the hit. Highly recommend Spout Brew House.
